claudia was born in cuba, raised in miami, and now lives in beverly hills. she is fifty-four years old and the mother to three children: anthony (32), joshua (28), and kennedy (20). her husband died five years ago in a car accident. a few months after his death, she attempted to kill herself - and that is the initial reason why she moved to california four and a half years ago, per her son's request (but nobody except her children knows that). she has been a psychology professor at ucla for four years now. she occasionally volunteers at a grief counseling center.

claudia is a quiet woman, but she's not shy. she usually waits until people talk to her before she talks to them. she's more of a watcher and a listener than anything. she likes observing people. she is a very family-oriented woman. her life is centered around her family. she tends to be very motherly and sometimes a little overprotective of her children even though they are all adults. she sometimes lets herself get a little too involved with people, which causes her to form attachments quickly. she can be very sensitive and emotional when this happens, and it's not unusual to see her break down and share her emotions when someone tells her about a situation.

as for relationships, claudia will need a little bit of everything. the most important thing would be friends. she'll need people that she can have lunch with or just hang out with on a regular basis. obviously, she'll be closer to some more than others. next would be her students. there will be lots of students who are either psych majors or have taken an intro to psychology class with her--and they'll either like her or not like her. she's a great role model and good at giving advice, so i can see people liking to talk to her. and then there's enemies, which i doubt she will have many of, but you never know. and relationships... she's currently dating somebody who may or may not end up being her new husband. but we'll see. :]

well, Cain is a teacher's assistant at ucla, and currently he sits in three different classes throughout the week (it's a good rotation every other day); Literature, Business, and a Psychology class. So they obviously will meet assuming she'd be okay having a TA helping her in her classes. anyways~ so i was thinking that since he is in the middle of her kid's ages (25) and he left his family back in new york, maybe she kinda treats him like a son....because he'd probably have told her why he hates his families and never really felt appreciated by them?? lol and she could probably help him with his relationship drama when that comes into play because he is going to need people to talk to then xP just thinking though...thought?

she would definitely not mind having a teacher's assistant in her classroom. she's the type of person who believes that the only way to learn is through practice, and she'll be more than willing to have a t.a. but yeah. she would definitely treat him as a son, especially if he was open and honest with her. if she knew that he didn't like his family, she would kinda take him under her wing and play mama bear... although a tiny mama bear she is (being only 4'10" and all). but yeah. uh. she might invite him over to her place for dinner with the family or something, or maybe they sometimes grab lunch together while they're at work or on fridays maybe go out someplace and have a drunk, though claudia probably wouldn't drink. but yeah. what you said sounds good. if you have anything else to add, let me know. we should thread them muy pronto.

that all sounds wonderful. :D he'd really like to feel a part of a family again. as for a thread, we should so start one, do you think it would be like the first day he sits in during her class or do you think that they would have known each other for a while? and i'm thinking we post it somewhere in the college campus

well, i guess it depends on how long he's been a teaching assistant. even if this is the first time he's doing it and this will be the first class of hers that he'll sit in, i'm pretty sure they would have met beforehand because claudia would have insisted. of course, if cain had a busy schedule whenever she asked to meet him, maybe they never did meet up? i dunno. but either way, it'll work out fine. if this isn't the first time he's assisting in the classroom, then they likely already know each other and have a somewhat developed relationship--but not overly so. as for the thread, i agree that it should be someplace on campus--maybe her office (he could have come to see her before class) or during lunch (after a class--they could have decided to grab a bite), or if they just run into each other at some point after he sat in on her class. but... yeah. that's all i've got.

yeah, they probably would have met before. it only makes sense. :) i think he'd probably stop by her office before her class starts, before he'd be on time and all that and probably just wait with her until her course started. maybe they discuss a few students or something, lol whatever. do you want to start it or shall i?

alright--sounds good! and could you start? i'm super lazy at the moment... and need to find some type of motivation to read the first two chapters of 'one hundred years of solitutde' (in spanish, mind you). so if you post, maybe i can tell myself, 'okay, no reading and replying until some of it's read!' haha. anyway. yeah. just let me know whenever you get it up. :]

I think Aurora will absolutely admire her, and probably adore her as well. I don't know if she would teach upper level Psychology- but I'm thinking Aurora would have a minor in Psychology. Maybe that's how they know each other?

well. the way i have been playing it is that she usually teaches an intro to psychology class and some other lower-level classes. she might teach some upper-level classes too, but not as many. but yeah. if aurora has a minor in psychology, she definitely would have had at least one or two classes with claudia, since she does teach some lower-level stuff. but yeah. did you have any other ideas for a possible relationship for these two?

I think (since Claudia is so family oriented) she could help Aurora out when everything hits the fan with her family- maybe during office hours one day she just breaks down and starts crying/freaking out about her sister and brother. Maybe it would be a lower level class (seniors still take those...sometimes) since that's what she teaches and I don't want to mess anything up.
