The weatherman said it was going to be a good day. On top of the Aurora’s weather app was promising good weather and sunshine. Those were the only things that the girl needed to pack up her car and head to the beach. It wasn’t too bad of a drive- getting out of Los Angeles was probably the hardest part; there was always so much traffic. As much as Aurora loved Los Angeles she could not wait to graduate and move back home to Huntington Beach- there she would work and live and have a family. That was the plan, it was a beautiful plan and she hoped that no one would mess it up for her.
The drive out to the beach was one filled with loud music and wind in her long blond hair. What she wanted out of today was simple: good waves. She was hoping that there was a good enough surf to go at it for a little while. It would be easy to take her mind off of everything. Aurora’s life was not difficult; she mostly worried about graduating with Summa Cum Laude or Magna Cum Laude. Life was good.
After what seemed liked forever, she was finally out of Los Angeles and on the road, not too much traffic. Since it was a weekday she wasn’t expecting the beach to be crowded, which was ideal. She wished that she could just drive down to Huntington Beach and surf on her own grounds but her parents would be furious if they knew she was skipping an entire day of class to go surfing. It was her one hobby that she picked up for herself, they didn’t approve of Aurora surfing, and they thought she could get injured or attacked by sharks. Aurora thought they were ridiculous for even thinking that way- it was a bad omen!
Finally, Aurora pulled into the parking lot and parked her car. She ran around the back and opened the trunk of her SUV and pulled out her surfboard. The young woman took care not to hit the board on the SUV frame. Boards were pretty expensive and she didn’t want to spend money on it. She grabbed the board with one arm and slammed her truck’s trunk down. The cool breeze and smell of the ocean brought a huge smile to her face. The beach was her favorite place to be- it relaxed her. She walked through the maze of cars, finally reaching the beach after what seemed forever. If she wouldn’t get weird looks for running she may have run to the sand.
As soon as she hit the sand she kicked off her shoes and picked them up with her other hand. As Aurora suspected, the beach was fairly empty. Not a lot of nannies with the kids they were taking care of. She walked, occasionally kicking up sand, towards the surf. She needed a good spot to place all her things and head into the water. It didn’t find long to find an empty expanse of sand to call her own. She jammed her board into the sand as she stripped down to her bikini. Aurora had a beautiful body, not an ounce of fat on her body. She flipped her head and tied her hair back into a ponytail. She removed her board form the sand and went out onto the water.
It was cold on her toes, but she didn’t mind. She had to submerge herself before she had second thoughts. Aurora went past the first break line before getting on top of her board. She then began to paddle out, looking for bigger waves.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]there's no sunrise --- Millie had a sucky day at school, but of course every day was pretty sucky because she didn’t really like it, apart from her extracurricular activities. She didn’t like it, oh and there was that she was at the prep school instead of where all her friends were, but she was a bit of a snob, she didn’t think she would actually like it at the public school. Millie had no problem with her friends being there, or making friends with those who went there, she just wouldn’t want to be there herself, since she kinda just wouldn’t like it herself. She preferred the smaller classes and all that. Well she had a vision of public school that just wasn’t good, though her friends did tell her stuff, but still, she had her own view. The time she nearly got kicked out for fooling around with a guy on the school field scared her to death, she would make sure that wouldn’t happen again, though as far as dorm rules go, she was always breaking the rules, it was surprising she hadn’t been caught again, she had just been lucky. Plus her roomie wasn’t so bad, she actually had been lucky in that respect.
She decided to go down to the beach, it was a nice relaxing place usually, and fairly beautiful. She liked to look at the waves. At least she had her cheerleading and other activities to keep her going, but come next year she would be expected to go to college and leave all her friends behind. She didn’t want that, she didn’t even know if she wanted to go to college, of course she would never tell her parents that. They seemed to have the perfect life planned for her, but she didn’t really know what she wanted. She was still young and she was meant to be able to explore things, have the choice to do things and not have things planned for her. both her siblings had gone to college, therefore she would also be expected to and that scared her. she certainly was not as intelligent as either of her siblings. It might be kind of an insult for her to go to college because she knew that she wouldn’t do as well as them. There was no way she would be able to get the grades. Maybe she would just go to a community college, or do a simple course, maybe stay around and go to UCLA. She wanted to work in fashion, she did a lot of extra curricular activities, maybe that would count for something?
She walked down to the beach and went to get an ice cream before moving across the sand. She saw a familiar face and smiled going over to her sister. The two didn’t get to see each other as often as she would like because of school. She lived in the dorms, not at home with their parents and aurora was always busy with friends, well she often was anyway. She kinda missed her, well she missed her a lot. hey rory, hows it going?

This was it, Aurora saw a sizable wave beginning to form out. She paddled, almost frantically, trying not to miss this opportunity. This was no Huntington Beach, so she had to make do with what she had. As the wave began to pull she braced herself, getting ready to stand on the board. Within a few seconds she was on her feet whipping through the wave. This wasn’t a big wave, but it was strong she felt it crashing behind her, she looked for a second seeing the tube close. Suddenly, her balance was off and she felt herself falling off the board. In a matter of minutes she was paddling back to the beach, her board in tow. She was definitely no Kelly Slater but she usually didn’t mess up on small waves. It was fine though, Aurora still had a massive smile plastered to her face.
On the shore line she spotted her little sister. Yes, Aurora had very good eye sight, but her sister was a cute little blond thing who was hard to miss. Aurora paddled back to the shore faster, hoping to meet her sister on the beach. She, very ungracefully, got out of the water board in arm. Her long hair was stuck to her back and she wiggled around trying to get sand out of her bathing suit bottom. She made her way through the heavy wet sand to where her stuff was. Now, her sister definitely saw her. It was pretty hard to miss the girl with the surfboard.
Aurora waved to her little sister. She absolutely adored “Millie” as she preferred to be called these days. Aurora wasn’t too fond of the nickname, it made her little sister sound like an old lady- but she respected her sister’s wishes. She jammed her board into the sand, again, and pulled her hair out of the hair tie and flipped it. Aurora ran her fingers through her blond hair and tried to smooth out of the bumps, she loved beach hair. It made her feel sexy- Aurora would kill for Blake Lively’s hair. It was absolutely beautiful. As her sister approached her smile got bigger and bigger, she stood waiting with her hands on her hips.
“Well, hello to you too Mills!” She motioned for her sister to plop down on the large flat sheet she brought with her. “I’m good, skipping class, don’t tell mom and dad. Okay?” The last thing she wanted was for her parents to know that she was skipping class to partake in an activity they hated. “What brings you here, sis? Aren’t you supposed to be living it up at the fabulous Prep?” Aurora was a BH Prep alumna, so she knew exactly how miserable it was. But it made going to college really easy, she hadn’t lived with her family since she was fourteen years old. “Can I have some ice cream?” She was eyeing her sister’s ice cream for a second and wanted just a little. Aurora had always been a little more lax with the boundaries than her parents- they probably would have cried to hearing Aurora asking for some ice cream.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 525252; border: #272727 solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Pursuit of Happiness Words: 583 Mood: slacker Tagged Aurora, Amelia Some yards down the beach, Abel was standing off to the side of some food kiosk or another. Where ever there was food, you'd surely find the ravenous young man. Clad in only his yellow and blue swim trunks and a pair of black water shoes, he popped the last bit of his chilli dog in his mouth. Watching him eat could be described as unpleasant, to say the least. You could almost see every single tooth, along with the macerated meal he'd just consumed. Before turning to walk on and down the beach, he grabbed his book bag, filled with cash, id, a towel, cell phone and other odds and ends he might need. Walking on sand was probably one of the most annoying experiences he could think of. Sand in general pissed him off, that's why he wore water shoes, so he wouldn't have to feel the gritty substance in between his toes. Of course he shouldn't be at the beach anyway with classes going on. But that wasn't of importance. Class, glass. The thought of school brought a frown to his face. With each day that passed, he was getting more discouraged about it. On more than one occasion, he thought of dropping out. Yeah, it was his senior year but he just wasn't feeling it anymore. The shit would really hit the fan if his parents found out about these thoughts. He looked out over the ocean as he walked, taking notice of how small the waves were. Surfing wasn't something he did much, swimming was more of a hobby for him. It was a calming activity he picked up in childhood and stayed with him up to this point. Swimming played a major factor in how lean and muscular he was.
Tearing his gaze away from the water, he let out a loud burp, fanning the area in front of his mouth. Hot dog breath was the worst. He could see two blonde female figures up ahead, not close enough to make out any real details. From what he could see they had some hot bodies on them. Shaking his head he'd say, "Damn..Maybe I should introduce myself." He didn't make it a habit to approach women but when the mood struck, why not? As he got closer, there seemed to be something familiar about the way they carried themselves, it was probably nothing. Adjusting the strap on his shoulder, he watched his feet as he walked, gathering the courage to approach the two girls. When he felt he was close enough to actually see what they looked like, he stopped, stretching his arms to look busy. He watched them talk to each other, their backs facing him. Great, he'd never see what they looked like this way. He'd just have to do things a little differently, so he walked up behind them, ready to say hello when he took notice of the surf board, hmm, where have I seen that before..? It looks really familiar.
The answer came as an unwelcome shock, especially once he moved around to see their faces. "Ah! Fuck me! Jesus!" He bent down, placing his hands on his knees. The man upstairs sure was having a laugh at Abel's expense. Checking out your sisters was so past not cool. A wave of nausea hit him. "From now on, you guys have to wear signs or something! This is just sick. Put some clothes on!" Was all he could say, before straightening. |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]there's no sunrise --- Millie smiled at her sister and sat down next to her. oh you know, just wanted to come and relax she smiled the sound of the ocean is really relaxing, I love it she smiled at her. it’s so peaceful, you know? she grinned and shifted a little closer to snuggle. you know the prep isn’t all wonderful, but I guess I wouldn’t like the high school either. I just wish I could be at the school with my friends, you know? she sighed. It wasnt fair that wasn’t she told her parents when they were thinking about schools that her friends were going to the high school, yes it wasn’t as good, but maybe she wouldn’t be snobby at all if she went there. Anyway, there must be snobby popular rich kids there too. One of her best friends, Alani, her family wasn’t super rich or anything, but they had money.
Not having my friends around all the time is tough, I swear when college comes around I am going to my own choice and not going to let my parents dictate that decision for me she told her I wish sometimes they didn’t expect so much from me. I know I am not perfect, I certainly am not clever like you or abel either she sighed. I won’t get into UCLA and you know how much their disappointment terrifies me she told him. I don’t know what to do, maybe I just won’t go to college, or I’ll go to community college she shrugged. The fact was that her parents expected way too much of her, they didn’t expect her to be like her brother and sister, they knew she wasn’t, but they wanted the same lifestyle for her, they wanted her to be successful. The truth was that she could be successful, but she wouldn’t be in the same way as her siblings, she would do it her way. That was the plan anyway, she still wanted them to be proud of her, and she knew they would be since they weren’t as uptight as some of the families in Beverly Hills.
She laughed and shook her head I’m not gonna tell mom and dad she told her. you know I won’t she said but if you see me skipping class, you gotta do the same for me, got it? she smiled I know Abel wouldn’t, he still treats me like a baby, but you...you get me so much more than he does she shrugged. Of course she loved her brother, she didn’t even need to say that she did because it was obvious, and she got that he was doing it to protect her, and she appreciated it, she really did, but she just knew that he didn’t understand her that well. He was so nosy as well. She smiled when she asked for some ice cream, and offered her some sure, now we can both keep the secret from mom and dad she smiled at her. she then looked up to see her brother, going on about them wearing signs huh? What? she asked, completely confused what are you on about? she laughed.

The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was her favorite sound to fall asleep to. If her parents would allow it, she would live on the beach for the rest of her life. However, Aurora knew perfectly well that her parents would not be pleased with that life choice. They weren't extremely strict but they definitely wanted her to lead a very normal life. Aurora didn't mind it at all, but sometimes she wished that her parents didn't act the way they did. She turned her attention back to her little sister and listened to her. She felt bad for her little sister. A lot of her friends didn't go to her school, so she was almost a lone ranger. Well, Amelia was popular but it was hard not having your best friends with you all the time. Aurora understood what it was like to feel like she had no friends. Aurora had experienced that after she decided to go to UCLA and all her friends were at Standford or Cal Poly and all those extremely expensive schools. It would get better for her sister, she knew it would because eventually she'd go to college of some sort. "You know mom and dad won't have it. You don't have to go to UCLA, there are other schools in the UC system. I mean Abe and I didn't go to Stanford or anything, but not going to college isn't an option." Maybe Aurora's parents were rubbing off on her. When Aurora was Millie's age she had been the same way. She chuckled a little, "yeah Abe's something else..." Aurora loved her twin but he was extremely protective over Millie. Aurora could understand why it was frustrating. Suddenly she heard a voice behind her that was extremely familiar. She turned her head up and saw her brother standing there. "Oh jeeze, don't tell me you were trying to hit on us you freak!" words ,608words tagged ,OPEN! notes ,OUTFIT |
