living is easy with eyes closed - - - - misunderstanding all you see - - - - Tommy stood transfixed by the vision before him. Endless waves and water, as far as the eye could see. He'd seen pictures, watched movies, but none of that compared. He'd never seen the ocean before. Sure, he could swim. There were pools in Iowa, and streams, and watering holes back in the woods, where he and his friends used to go skinny dipping when they were drunk. His grandparents lived next to a lake, but that was different. The water here was just... endless.
After a very long first week of classes at school, Tommy had needed a break. He already had more homework than ever before, and in the back of his head, he knew that it was all waiting for him back in the dorm, but this was one thing he'd been itching to do since he'd arrived. Tommy had brought lunch, a notebook, and a book of poetry to enjoy, but already, there were lines of verse spinning in his head to try feebly to describe the boundless beauty of what was before him.
He'd not meant to go in the water. He didn't even have a towel. But the sea called to Tommy, and he could not refuse it. Without a moment's hesitation, the athletic young man pulled off his shirt and dropped his jeans. A more modest person might have felt uncomfortable going swimming in nothing but the boxer-briefs that Tommy was sporting, but Tommy was not a modest person. He'd been swimming in much less. And some of the swimming suits that the guys here were sporting showed a lot more skin than Tommy's underwear. Without another moment's thought, Tommy dashed off into the waves.
He didn't know how long he frolicked in the waters, diving in and out, letting the swells break over him. The sun had moved, but was still beating down strong on the beach as Tommy walked back, dripping, to his stuff. He picked up his shirt and used it to dry himself before looking around surreptitiously and, seeing that there was no one watching him, pulled off his soaked underwear and slipped back into his jeans. Then he sat down, picked up his sandwich, and began demolishing that while he continued to stare at the endless waves.

charlie threw the phone on the bed, not even bothering to hang up on her boyfriend. they were having another fight and it was getting on her nerves. she wasn't even sure if they broke up this time or not but she didn't give a fuck. in her mind, she just wanted to find something fun to do, or someone. she wasn't picky. she had never actually cheated on her boyfriend, she only went after other boys when they were on a break but she did flirt like crazy. she couldn't help it, it just made her feel better. it made her feel wanted. she didn't want to have her nights ruined because of a stupid fight. since it was still early, there were probably not parties so she went with her second alternative. she decided to go to the beach.
she was dressed in sweats, having been woken up by her boyfriend's phone call. she wished she had just stayed asleep, she did not like being woken up for a stupid fight about a facebook photo some guy took. so she was seen kissing his cheek, it's not like she was straight out making out. charlotte shook those thoughts away though, she did not want to be depressed the rest of the day. anyways, she slipped into a cute bright blue two piece and some shorts. she decided to just go like that, it wasn't like anyone would find it strange for a girl to be walking around in shorts and a bikini top. this was california after all. she grabbed her beach bag and got into her car. she lived near the beach so she was there in five minutes.
the beach wasn't full like usual so she found a parking spot easily. she got out and locked her car, at least she think she did. she wasn't too worried about people stealing her car since the bright pink color usually turned many people off. it was girly but that was the whole point. charlotte looked around the beach, trying to see if she could find a familiar face. and lo and behold, she saw someone that was definitely familiar. she had seen tommy around, he was evie's friend and they were close though charlie only hung out with him once or twice. she had found him to be extremely cute and had flirted with him a little bit though her boyfriend took most of her attention. she might have been an absolute flirt but she did put that boy first.
she walked over to him, taking note of the fact that he was shirtless and she would probably have a hard time not staring at his muscles. "hey, tommy right? i'm evie's friend, charlotte. we met a couple of times" charlie said. being angry at avan gave her total liberty to flirt as she pleased.

living is easy with eyes closed - - - - misunderstanding all you see - - - - Caught mid-bite, Tommy had to chew and swallow awkwardly before he could greet his new companion. All the while, the feeling grew in the back of Tommy's mind that this was one of the very few times that he wished he weren't shirtless. She was staring at him like a giant, living sex toy. Tommy had never been accused of being modest. On the contrary, as his little stunt with changing out of his underwear just a moment before had demonstrated, the young man had no problem whatsoever showing every last inch of skin, no matter the company. On the other hand, he did object to being objectified as much as anyone, and that was the basis for his discomfort.
Still, Tommy had also grown accustomed to the effect that his body had on others (mostly women, sadly), and so, when he'd finished the bite of his sandwich, he put on a welcoming smile and offered a handshake. "Yeah, I'm Tommy," he replied to her greeting "I remember meeting you. How are you doing?" Tommy did his best to be welcoming, despite his discomfort. After all, he had kind of been asking for it. And at least his new friend was someone he already knew.
Tommy's keenly tuned people-sense was starting to tingle, and under her cheerful, bubbly, flirtatious surface, he got the feeling that there was something bothering Charlie. Of course, he wasn't just going to come out and say it. He knew better than to do that with a girl he barely knew. Either it would lead her on by making her think that he really, really got her in a way other guys didn't, or she would think that he was a crazy stalker. Neither was an outcome that Tommy desired, but, if forced, he how have to say that he would rather have her think the latter than the former. "Please, have a seat and join me," Tommy offered cordially. "I would have brought more food if I'd known that I was gonna have company."
